STELLAR SUPERSTAR: Jesse Dunlap

This month’s Stellar Superstar is Jesse Dunlap — a Colorado-licensed Master Electrician whose skill, integrity, and commitment to quality make him a trusted partner for homeowners and businesses alike. — Tony

In 2010, I was laid off from a large electrical contractor and found myself out of work. I then decided to use that time to study and take the Master Electrical exam in order to start my own electrical business. It was a way to create my own jobs and a way to serve a variety of customers. In the first 5 years, I had over 500 customers. All my marketing was referrals. I found that you show up when you say you are and do exactly what you say you’re going to do, do quality work, install quality products, and have an agreed-upon pricing upfront. Everything seems to run smoothly.

My true “why” is simple: I love connecting with people and serving them in a meaningful way. Being an electrician for 27 years, I’ve learned that my work is more than a trade; it’s a reflection of who I am. Every project is a chance to build trust, serve with integrity, and make a home safer for the people who live there.

I believe in doing things the right way so a family can have true peace of mind knowing their electrical system is safe, reliable, and built to last. I take pride in my craftsmanship because quality work protects what matters the most.

Before any job begins, I meet with each customer to understand their why, what they value most about their home, and how I can help bring that vision to life. I hold myself to the highest standards and do the right thing when no one is watching.

For me, integrity, honesty, and excellence aren’t just words; they’re how I work. Because when it’s Done Right by Dunlap, it’s done with care, craftsmanship, and heart.

My greatest joy is getting compliments and positive feedback on my finished work from my customers and electrical inspectors.

The best electrical projects for me are ones that require electrical permits. I find that permitted work is the right size project and matches the values of the customer wanting things done right.

My favorite types of projects are:

  • Electrical service changes/upgrades, panel changes, sub panels

  • Remodel projects: whole house, kitchen, bathroom

  • New construction, custom homes, basement finishes, additions
